HIGH VOLTAGE are an AC/DC tribute band from East Anglia comprised of five excellent musicians who have come together with the aim of delivering the authentic sound of AC/DC in the 1970s. The primary focus of the band is on the Bon Scott era, with the intention of recreating the atmosphere of the smokey Australian pub gigs that characterised those early years of the band.
When drummer Kevin Woodard, a lifelong AC/DC fan, decided to finally put together his own tribute to the band he loves he knew exactly the musicians he wanted since he was already playing in another rock band with bassist Jon Davey and lead guitarist Jon Miller. Rhythm guitarist John Lovegrove was quickly recruited and his experience as crew for AC/DC on tour provided valuable insight! Charismatic frontman Andy Dunt completed the line up.
We consider ourselves a 'tribute to AC/DC' rather than an 'AC/DC tribute'. EG we DON'T dress up. To be fair we tried it once but we just felt awkward and fell about laughing. It felt really odd to us to pretend to be someone else. We will leave the 'Stars in Your Eyes' thing to the others who seem to do it very well. Our attitude is to rock out, having fun, playing the tunes of the of one of the greatest Rock 'N' Roll bands of all time and to try and create the excitement of AC/DC in those early days.
All five members of HIGH VOLTAGE play in numerous other bands and so it was decided early on that the band would limit themselves to a small number of high quality gigs. |
